Deirdre Lynn Morbley Obituary

Deirdre Lynn Morbley

February 6, 1952 - January 6, 2024

On Saturday morning on January 6, 2024 God said Amen Amen she fought a good fight, she has finished her course, she kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for her a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give her at that day: and not to her only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.

Sister Deirdre Lynn Morbley made her entrance into this world on February 6, 1952 to the late Viola Gertrude Morbley in New Orleans, La. She was the youngest of her siblings. She was the sister of Lois Marie Griffin and Cynthia Griffin Harris.

“Dee Dee” as she was called by her family and many others. She attended T-Rose Kindergarten School and she attended public schools in St. Charles Parish. She graduated from Hahnville High School in 1970. She graduated from LSU in 1975 with a degree in Business Administration. Sister Morbley worked for Potlatch, Dillards Department Store and retired from the New Orleans Police Department. She sang in the First Baptist Church Lights of Joy and the Senior Choir. She also served as Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher. She loved to sing. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 139:13-14. She enjoyed Old Hymns.  “Dee Dee” loved her God, her family and all people. She loved to sing or just hum a tune. When someone would say something that she agreed with she would say “Amen Amen” and she would always say Safe Travels.

“Dee Dee”, as she was affectionately called by many, leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted sisters Lois Marie Griffin and Cynthia Griffin Harris; two God children/nieces Rena and Rona Harris, one great niece Bayleigh Louise Harris, and a host of other relatives and friends.
