D’Andrea Irons Waxter
October 16, 1954 - March 28, 2026
D’Andrea Irons Waxter, age 71, departed this life on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Touro Hospital. She was born to the late Willie J. Irons, Sr., and the late Lillie Cade. She was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA, and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. She retired after an extensive career as a respiratory therapist and phlebotomist at Charity Hospital and University Medical Center.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Hughes, III and Joshua Hughes, bonus daughter Rocquell Hughes, Goddaughter, Aisha Mitchell, her grandchildren, Knea’Kayla Brumfield, Jade Hughes, Jah’ya Hughes, and Jamir Hughes. She is also survived by her siblings, Willie Joseph Irons, Jr., Michon Irons Wyche (Trey), Martin P. Irons (Leah), Richard Lieteau, Pamela Lieteau Ivory (Henry), Gerald Lieteau, Gregory Lieteau (Candace), mother, Bertha Coleman Irons, and a host of nieces, nephews, close relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents John James Irons, Sr., Essie Folse Irons, Joseph Coleman, Sr., father, Willie Joseph Irons, Sr., and mother, Lillie Cade.
Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, officers and members of Mt. Airy Baptist Church and all neighboring Churches are invited to the Funeral Service at 10:30am on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, 13635 Old Spanish Trail, Boutte, LA 70039. Reverend Clyde Staes, Host Pastor and Reverend Bernard Dyer-Officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30am until the time of Funeral Service at the above-named Church. Interment Mt. Airy Memorial Park.
