Chester Harry ("Bunny") Davis, Jr. Obituary

CHESTER HARRY DAVIS, JR. (aka) BUNNY

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to be pluck up that which is planted;”.

 Ecclesiastes 3: 1-2

On Sunday, June 14, 2026, the Angel of the Lord visited the earth and whispered in the ear of His Son Chester Harry Davis Jr, your assignment on earth is now complete, come up to your Home in Glory and Rest from your Labors.

Chester Harry Davis Jr, affectionately known as “Bunny” was born on February 5, 1959, in Luling, LA to the late Chester Harry Davis Sr. and Octavia Matthews Davis.

Chester Jr. accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and Chester Jr, was baptized by the late Rev. Isiah Charles, on June 20, 1971, at the Philadelphia Baptist Church in Hahnville LA.

He was the proud father of Anya Davis, Gerren (Ontranekia) Davis, Shanda Davis, and the late Damien Paul Davis. Proud grandfather of eight grandchildren, and two nephews and one great niece. Brother of Melody Davis Bailey and Karen Davis. Nephew of Dorthy Mae (Elton) Wilson and Dale Ann (late Warren) Matthews Sr of Hahnville LA., the late Elnora Pierre, Louis and Marjorie P Davis, Henry Matthews Sr. and Nelson Matthews Sr. Chester entered into eternal rest at the age of 67 years. He was a native and resident of Hahnville, LA.

Chester worked at Turner Industries, Brown & Root Industries and Avondale, as a Pipefitter for many years. There he helped and coached many people in the community. If he met someone who was looking for a job, he would tell them to go over to Turner Industries, fill out the application, and tell them Chester Davis sent you to be a Pipefitter helper.

He enjoyed family gatherings and would always depart the gathering with saying “I Love you all and I am proud of all of you. I have enjoyed myself and let us do this again.”  He loved people and would not turn them down for anything he had if they asked, no matter how much his sister Melody would fuss at him.
