Carolyn Champagne Jackson

1939 - 2024

Carolyn Jackson departed this life on May 21, 2024, just hours shy of her 85th birthday.  Carolyn was born to the union of Ulysses, Sr. and Nancy Markey Champagne on May 22, 1939.  

Carolyn received Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Mary Baptist Church under the Late Rev. Givens.  Prior to becoming a member of Triumphant Church in Luling, she was a member of the St. Mary Baptist Church where she served as a devoted choir member and leader of the Pastors Aide Committee.

She retired from the Arc of St. Charles where she served in many roles including Educator, Pottery Instructor, and student transport.

She loved cooking and baking and was well known for her bread pudding and sweet potato pies.  Carolyn had a “green thumb” and loved all plants and flowers.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Carolyn leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Arlene Jackson Williams, Darlene, and Wade (Terri) Jackson; Her Brother, Ulysses (Betty) Champagne, Jr.; her grandchildren, Cherie (Mark) Johnson, Shantell (Alton) Morales, Zachariah, and Isabella Jackson; great-grandson, Colin Morales; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Ulysses and Nancy Markey Champagne, and her brother, Clyde Champagne.

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of The Historic Bell Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Historic Bell Baptist Church, 300 Hackberry Street, Luling, LA 70070. Visitation 9:00am until time of service at the above-named church.  Interment Holy Rosary Cemetery, Taft, LA.  Final Arrangement Entrusted to Patrick H.
