In celebrating his life, we announce the passing of Carl Madison “Bull” James, who departed this life on July 10, 2026, at the age of 73.
Carl was born on February 19,1953, in Waco, Texas to the late Peter James, Jr. and Paria Lee Holmes James. He was reared in Laplace, Louisiana, where he was baptized at Greater Morning Baptist Church by Paster Joseph Warren. During his school years, Carl participated in track, where he earned the nickname “Chicken Man,” and football. He graduated from Leon Godchaux High School in 1971.
On December 1, 1972, Carl married the love of his life, Cabrini Sanders James. As a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Carl lived a life marked by faith, hard work, and an unwavering love for his family. Throughout his career, Kaiser, Barriere Construction and Cajun Construction employed him, where he earned the respect of his co workers through his dedication, integrity, and strong work ethic.
Carl leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Cabrini Sanders James, his loving children, Angela Sampson (Daryl), Carla Green, Christine James and Carl Madison James, Jr.; and his treasured grandchildren, Darielle, Dynekia, Darichelle, Khaleo, Darilynn, Kayla, Nydia, Anae, Amira, Zevin, Carly, Tevin, Carl, III, and Devin. He was also blessed with nineteen great grandchildren.
He also is survived by his loving siblings; his sisters Beverly and Gloria; and brother, Peter James (Branetta) and Donell James (Edwina). He also leaves behind three sisters-in-law, Wanda, Veronica (Ernest), and Bonnie (Donnie); one brother-in-law, Elbert Shorts, one godchild, Grlicia Washington; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends, who will forever cherish his memory.
Carl will be remembered for his strength, generosity, unwavering love for his family and the kindness he extended to everyone he met. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, and the lessons he taught and the love he shared.
Carl was preceded in death be his father Peter James, Jr., and mother Paria Lee Holmes James; his sister Fairetta Holmes Cola and his godchildren, Eroll Cola and Kerry Parquet
Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that his memory will remain with us always. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Calvary Baptist Church and all neighboring Churches are invited to the Celebration of Life Services at 11:00am on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Mt.
