Bertha Jean Louis

Bertha Jean Louis, age 79, transitioned peacefully from her earthly life on August 30, 2023, at Baton Rouge General Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA. Bertha was born on July 4, 1944, to the late Leo Paul Louis and Elnora Jones Louis of Edgard, LA. Bertha leaves to cherish her precious memories her children Pamela (Jacob) Lewis, Leonard (Chloe) Lewis, and Nedra (Danielle) Johnson; her grandchildren Jerome, Jr., Donavon, La’Ron, Yasmine, Destiny,  and Langston; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Wilson (Gloria), Lovenia (Walter) Ross, Rosetta, James (Francis), Gilbert, Norman, Solomon, Delores (Thomas); and a host of relatives, friends, her devoted caregiver Brielle Favorite, and two devoted members of the family Jacob Valentine and Labarrin Louis.

Bertha enjoyed spending time with family and friends, Bertha also opened her home to friends and loved ones for all occasions. Bertha touched many lives with her generosity and her passion for life.

Bertha was proceeded in death by her parents Leo Paul and Elnora Louis, her son Jerome Sr., brothers Joseph, Isaac, Llyod, sisters Felma, Myrtle, Donna Lumar, daughter-in-law Molly, sisters-in-law Geraldine, Patricia, Mary Lee, and brother-in-law Walter Lumar.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a public visitation on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Patrick H. Sanders Funeral Home, 605 Main Street, Laplace, LA 70068 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm.

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of New Jerusalem Baptist Church and all surrounding Churches are invited to a celebration of life honoring Bertha Louis at 10:00am on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 152 E. 6th Street, Edgard, LA  70049. Rev. Maurice Tillman, Pastor-Officiant. Visitation 8:00am until time of service at the above-named Church. Bertha will be laid to rest at New Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery in Edgard LA.
