Benjamin Thomas, Sr. Obituary

The Life and Legacy of

Benjamin Thomas, Sr.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7

Benjamin Thomas, Sr., age 85 peacefully entered eternal rest on July 9, 2026.  Born on June 29, 1941, in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Freddie and Dorothy Stokes Thomas, he lived a life rooted in faith, family, service and hard work.  He proudly served in the United States Army and later became a respected businessman, owning a Texaco Service Station and establishing TNT Maintenance.  Alongside his wife, Elizabeth Perrilloux Thomas, he also co-founded Christian Community Youth Prevention, helping guide and support young people in the community.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and community leader, Benjamin was known for his wisdom, strength, compassion and unwavering dedication to those he loved.  Family was the center of his life, and he demonstrated his love through sacrifice, service, and encouragement.

Benjamin was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Dorothy Thomas, his son Javon Thomas and siblings Kear Thomas, Bernel Thomas, Sr., Leroy Thomas and Patricia Thomas.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Elizabeth Perrilloux Thomas, his children Gailyn Thomas, Benjamin Thomas, II (Tahtia), Lurdria Winchester (David), Ray Francois, Jackie Williams, Phyllis Lipps, Tanisha Francois, Alicia Jack, Reuben Francois (Carli), and Leslie Preston (Barron); his brothers Jefferson Craig Thomas (Shirley) and Calvin Thomas; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Though Benjamin’s earthly journey has ended, his legacy lives through the family he loved, the community he served, and the countless lives he touched. He will forever be remembered as a man of faith, honor, perseverance, and love-a life well lived and a legacy never forgotten.
