On the evening of September 25, 2024, Audrey Mae Hawkins heard the voice of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ say, “It's time to come home my good & faithful servant!”


Audrey Mae Hawkins, the daughter of the late Leonard A. Hawkins Sr. and Geneva Humphrey Hawkins, was born September 23, 1945, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the youngest of four children. She was the mother of Monica Hawkins (Lawrence) Paul, Bryant K. (Angela) Hawkins and Aulbon N. Hawkins.


She graduated from Bethune High School and was a lifelong resident of Norco, Louisiana. 


Audrey was employed at East Jefferson General Hospital as a unit secretary for 35 years. After retirement, she worked as an office manager for Home Health Care 2000 and later for Holistic Home Health. She finally retired to be a stay-at-home great grandmother in 2016. Sister Audrey enjoyed reading, shopping, going to church, cooking, and baking for her family, as well going to the salon to maintain her pride and joy which was her hair.


Audrey received Christ and was baptized at Good Hope missionary Baptist Church by Reverend D B Mollaire. It was there where she served for many years as the president of the senior choir, was a dedicated member of the mission department, and was also the director of vacation bible school. After many years at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Audrey was led by God to Destiny Christian Center in Laplace, LA. She faithfully attended Sunday Services and Bible Study under the leadership of Pastor Steve O. Allen, Sr., whom she loved dearly.


Audrey leaves her precious memories to her Children Monica (Lawrence) Paul, Byrant (Angela) Hawkins, and Aulbon Hawkins, her grandchildren LaConta Hawkins Johnson (Marvin), Latoya Hawkins, Jasmone Hawkins, Jonathan Hawkins, Jamaica Hawkins, Johnnie Hawkins, Brashad Hawkins, Deven Hawkins and Logan Hawkins. Her Great Grandchildren Mia Williams, Myria Williams, Gabrielle Williams, Jordan Moore, Jamal Moore, Jada Moore, Laila Hawkins, Davin Zeringue, Mashiya Johnson, Jayden Hawkins, Aubrie Hawkins, Makayla Johnson, King Hawkins,Chloe Hawkins, Khaleil Hawkins, Joel Hawkins, Jace Hawkins and Lei’lani Hawkins, one Great Great Grandchild, Azy Liyah Brown. Her sister Barbara Hawkins Williams and her 5 nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. 


She was preceded in death by her parents the late Leonard, Sr. and Geneva Hawkins, her grandparents Achille Hawkins and Maria Jones Hawkins. Her siblings Leonard Hawkins, Jr., and Joseph Hawkins.


Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of Destiny Christian Center, GoodHope Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to a Celebration of Life Service at 10:00am on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Destiny Christian Center, 612 Main Street, Laplace, LA 70068. Pastor Steve O. Allen, Sr. Visitation 8:00 am until time of service at the above-named church. Interment St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, 13396 River Rd, Destrehan, LA 70047.
