Arlene Merita Quinn was born on December 16, 1960, to the late Charles “Mack” Quinn, Sr. and Olevia Wilson Batiste. Arlene peacefully transitioned on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at her home in Waggaman, LA. She was a native of Hahnville, LA and a resident of Waggaman for 40 years, age 65.
She was employed by East Jefferson Hospital for 13 years and Ochsner Medical Main Campus for 8 years as a Lab Technician. After retiring, Arlene began to travel more and more on different Cruise Ship Lines, that she really enjoyed. She was really living her best life to the fullest.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her loving son Torey Bovie, Sr. and two sisters, Crystal Quinn (William) of Georgia, Shanell Smith-Green (Robert) of Waggaman, LA, her brother Charles Quinn, Jr. (Sharon) and sister-in-law Leah. She was the grandmother of Torey Bovie, Jr. and Ta’Niya Bovie. One uncle, Elton Wilson (Dorothy), one Great Aunt, Brenda Wilson, her Godfather, John Clark (JC), three godchildren; Akemey Jackson, Nadia Bovie and Dejae Smith also her two childhood friends, Yvette Earl and Ursula Hilaire-Dorsey. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles “Mack” Qui n and Olevia Wilson Batiste, her brothers Ralph Quinn, Sr. and Darvin Quinn, grandparents Raymond and Florence Wilson and her Godmother Alana Pierre.
There will be a private Celebration of Life Service for Arlene Merita Quinn on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00am. Following the private Celebration of Life, everyone is invited to attend the repast at the American Legion Hall, Post 509 at 10803 River Rd, Ama, LA 70031 to give their condolences to the family. Words of comfort and prayers will be officiated by Rev. Carvin Smith, Sr. (Pastor of Philadelphia Baptist Church, 217 Smith Street, Hahnville, LA 70057. Final Arrangements entrusted to Patrick H.
