Antoine "Tony/Twine" Sterling, Sr.

November 28, 1949 - June 8, 2026

Antoine J. Sterling, Sr., affectionately known as “Tony or Twine,” was born to the late Edward and Jeanette Murray Sterling in Laplace, Louisiana, on November 28, 1949. On June 8, 2026, Tony passed away peacefully and entered eternal rest, age 76.

Tony proudly served his country in the United States Army, demonstrating dedication, honor, and commitment to duty.  Following the military career, he worked at Kenner Marine, where he remained employed until his retirement. His strong work ethic and devotion to providing for his family earned him the respect and admiration of many.

Tony was truly a priceless man whose life reflected love, laughter, and joy. He was the life of the party, always ready with a joke and a smile that could brighten any room. His warm spirit, kind heart and sense of humor made him beloved by family, friends and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Tony was united in marriage to Greta Sterling and together they shared many years of love, companionship, and cherished memories.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Edward, and Jeanette Sterling; his son Christopher Anderson; sisters, Sylvia S. Harvey, and Claudia Davis; sisters-in-las, Naomi and Cindy Sterling, his stepdaughter Kimion Johnson and 3 brothers-in-law, Rodney, Rody and Richard Keller.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his devoted wife, Greta Sterling, his sons, Antoine, Jr., Shaun, Sr. (Morgan), and Jade Sterling; his grandchildren, Demetric Manuel, Jaylen Richards, Shaun, Jr., Chyenne, Jai, Marlee, Jamari Sterling, his great grandson, Kryshaun Sterling; 1 step-son, Richard Johnson, III; 4 step grandchildren, Ky’rin, Torin, Rani and Richard Johnson IV; 4 sisters, Patricia, Carolyn, Elaine Sterling and Regina (John, Sr.) August; 3 brothers, Milton, Gerald and Keith Sterling; 3 brothers-in-law, Frank C. Harvey, Roland Keller, Sr. and Robert Keller, Jr.  and a host of nieces, nephews, Godchildren and other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family, Priest and Parishioners of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and all neighboring Churches are invited to the Funeral Mass at 11:00am on Friday, June 19, 2026, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 529 W. 5th Street, Laplace, LA 70068.  Visitation will begin at 10:00am until the time of Funeral Mass.  Interment at 10:00am on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Dr., Slidell, LA  70460.  Final Arrangements entrusted to Patrick H.
