Anthony Glenn Spotville

"Big Spot"

1960 - 2025

Anthony Glenn Spotville “Big Spot” was born on May 23, 1960, New Orleans, Louisiana. Anthony is the second son born to the late Wilbert Charles and Elizabeth Arceneaux Spotville; preceding him in death is his brother, Kenneth Charles Spotville (Lea). Anthony fell asleep for a short while on January 23, 2025.

Leaving to mourn is his only child, Carissa Varise Carter, only grandchild, Christoper Williams, and his close friend, Vanessa Carter-Green; beloved siblings: Elizabeth Marie Tannis (Brian), Steven Ray Arceneaux (Kim), Rodney Deon Arceneaux (Kitty), and Desiree Monique Arceneaux Lemons (Randy). Anthony’s memory will be cherished by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends. 

Anthony graduated from L.B. Landry High School in 1980 and began an extended career at the Hilton Hotel in New Orleans as a Master Convention Planner and Organizer. Known for his dedication and expertise, Anthony took great pride in his many years of service at the Hilton. His last workplace was at Walmart, where he fell ill and thereafter went into retirement. Even so, Anthony was always at Walmart, as he enjoyed meeting friends and chatting it up about past events.

Anthony grew up in a vibrant household with six siblings. There was never a dull moment in his home, and Anthony’s presence always added a unique spark to the family dynamic. His remarkable memory, which we often joked, was like that of an elephant, set him apart. Our brother had an uncanny ability to recall the finest details and insisted all the younger siblings knew all NFL mascots, state capitals, multiplication tables, movie characters, music lyrics, etc.

This natural talent was undeniable, and one of his proudest achievements as a child was winning an opportunity to attend art school. It all began with a drawing—a deer’s head from a magazine challenge—where Anthony’s precision and creativity stood out so much that the publishers invited him to further develop his skills at their art school. Anthony’s gift was more than just an art skill, it was a reflection of his deep appreciation for the world around him.

Our big brother had a real love for life. Growing up in Algiers, he was into bodybuilding, 70/80s music, sketching art, and kicking back with a good movie. He could throw down in the kitchen, loved a tasty meal, and wasn’t shy about hitting the dance floor. His favorite past time was sharing stories of his past with friends and family.

Anthony’s size alone had folks thinking twice, but anyone who knew him knew he was a gentle giant. He kept it real, always saying what was on his mind—you never had to wonder where he stood. Straight up, Anthony treated everyone the same, no fake vibes, just 100% authentic. He had his own way with family too, calling his brothers “Lil bro” and his sisters “Baby girl,” always showing love in his own unique style.

Anthony loved kicking it with his brothers—their bond was tight. He had a special connection with his big brother, “Kayney,” who always had his back and looked out for him. In the neighborhood, Anthony’s size alone kept folks from messing with his younger brothers, and he made sure they stayed safe. As they got older, that love flipped, and his brothers had his back just the same.

Anthony’s biggest vibe was bumpin’ R&B—he stayed spinning Prince, Michael Jackson, DeBarge, EWF, and played it for the neighborhood. He’d be belting out songs like he had the best voice in the world, and you couldn’t tell him otherwise. Truth is, Anthony thought he had the best of everything—his clothes, his kicks, his hair, and especially his cooking. He had that competitive streak, but in a funny, playful way that always had people cracking up.

Anthony had a spiritual side that ran deep. He believed in Jehovah and respected the Bible as God’s Word. He always spoke about God with reverence and emphasized not being fake in worship. When Bible truths were shared with him, Anthony listened closely, showing genuine interest and appreciation for spiritual conversations.

Later in life, Anthony faced health challenges that took a toll on him. Yet, he took one final family trip to Atlanta to spend time with his siblings. That moment together was deeply cherished by all of them, They were grateful to Jehovah for allowing them to share that special visit, a memory they will hold close to their hearts until they meet again! Job 14:15

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Graveside Funeral Service at 10:00am on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Beuna Vista Cemetery, Lemannville (St. James), Louisiana.  Final Arrangements Entrusted to Patrick H.
