Allen Sanders, Sr.

1954 - 2024

Allen Sanders, Sr., entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 26, at Ochsner Medical Complex-River Parishes in Laplace, at the age of 70. He was born to the union of the late Henry and Emma Sanders on July 22, 1954, one of six boys.  He was a long-time resident of Reserve.

Allen accepted Christ as his savior and was baptized by the late Rev. Ferdinand Gaines, Jr., at the First Community Antioch Baptist Church in Lutcher, LA.  He was educated in the St. John Parish Public School System, and he served in the United States Army.  Allen was a kind person and whenever asked to do something, he did it.  He has helped a lot of people In the community when they needed work done on or in their homes, cars or anything that they needed help with.  He will be truly missed because of his handyman work.  Allen also had a nice singing voice.  He loved quarter music  and knew all the songs.  Can you believe that he made a TikTok videos with his baby sister, Debbie?  He enjoyed those moments. 

Although Allen had his struggles in life, he loved the Lord.  The fight may have been hard, but God has his back now.  He is free at last, free at last?

Allen was married to the late Mary Emma Rixner where they had five boys, Donovan, Kendall, Anthony, Darnell and the Allen Sanders, Jr.

He was preceded in the death by his son, Allen Sanders, Jr., his mother and father Emma and Henry Sanders, Sr., and his brother Henry Sanders, Jr.

He leaves behind his precious memories that will forever be cherished by his children, Anthony, Darnell, Donovan, Kendall and Travis and Jontrell Cosey. Also, his sisters, Debbie Craighead, Geneiva Jones, Jackie Hargrove, and Madelyn Tyler.  His brothers, Earl, Gerald, Leonard, Lionel and his sister-in-law, Natasha Sanders, brother-in-law, Erwin Craighead and daughters-in-law, Tryneisha Sanders, and Latasha Sanders. Also, his grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of Bethlehem Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 146 E. 20th Street, Reserve, LA 70084.  Rev.  Dr. Forell Bering Sr.-Pastor.  Visitation 9:00am until time of service at the above-named location.  Interment will be on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, LA 70460.  Final Arrangements Entrusted to Patrick H.
