Acqunetta Wilson

On Sunday, February 26, 2023 at 10:18 am, Acqunetta Wilson transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home. She was born on February 5, 1966 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Margaret McCarthy and Curtis Wilson. She was baptized at an early age under the tutelage of Pastor Isiah Charles at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Hahnville, LA. She attended the St. Charles Parish Public School System and also pursued a career in Culinary Arts. Cooking was her forte.’ Later in life Acqunetta was blessed to give birth to her son, Kirkland Wilson. Shortly after, her sister Shevelle became ill and Acqunetta assisted in providing care for her sister until Shevelle’s death. Subsequently, she gave birth to her daughter, Shaquetta Wilson. Acqunetta loved to cook and she loved to have fun. She enjoyed life to the fullest and she had a unique way of making people laugh. She enjoyed fellowshipping at her church, Historic Bell Baptist Church, Luling, LA. She also loved visiting with family and friends and spending quality time with her beloved grandchildren. She also had a dear friend, Jayci Lewis known as “Pony” who was her “broke best friend”.
Acqunetta leaves to cherish her memory, her children Kirkland and Shaquetta Wilson, her siblings, Derrick McCarthy (Trezan), Gregory Wilson (Roxanne), Phoebe Wilson Arlisa London (Stanley), stepsiblings, Ricky Stipe, Javelle and Jeffrey Stipe, devoted friend, D. Edward Taylor, grandchildren Brooklyn, Massiah and King, her friend Jayci Lewis, her great aunt of Eva Lois Sperry and Godmother of Gloria Johnson. She was the niece of Alton Wilson (Dorothy), Aaron Wilson, Louise Stepper, Dorothy Johnson, Gloria Johnson and Dorothy Bryant.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Curtis Wilson and Margaret McCarthy, stepmother Claudia Wilson and stepfather Eldridge McCarthy, her sister Shevelle Wilson. Grandparents, Nolan and Mildred Melonson and Raymond and Florence Wilson. Aunts, Patricia Melonson, Geraldine Keys and Marion Weber.
Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of Historic Bell Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Historic Bell Baptist Church, 300 Hackberry St. Luling LA 70070.
