With heavy hearts and profound love, we celebrate the life of Ashton Joseph Lyons Jr., who peacefully entered eternal rest on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at his home with his devoted wife by his side.
Born on October 31, 1961, Ashton was educated in the New Orleans Public School System. He attended Valena C. Jones Elementary School and graduated from Joseph S. Clark High School, Class of 1979.
Ashton was known for his kind heart, humble spirit, and unwavering willingness to help anyone in need. He never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand. His gentle personality, infectious smile, and caring nature touched the lives of everyone who knew him.
Throughout his life, Ashton worked for O-Zone, Stanley (CO), and Schwegmann’s before beginning a career with Pepsi Co, where he faithfully worked for 25 years. He eventually retired due to health complications. Outside of work, Ashton had a deep love for music, classic cars, and spending time with family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted wife, Cathey Lyons; his father Ashton Lyons Sr; his daughters Katherine (Merlin) Benefield, Alnisha (Anthony) Lagarde, Da’Vone (Marcus) Craig, and Kenisha (Andrew) Jones; his sisters, Sherry Thompson and Sherita Brown; his brothers, Carlos (Angelena)Peters, Kenneth Woodard, and Keith Woodard; Bonus mom Lorraine Woodard and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, lifelong friends, and all whose lives were touched by his kindness and love.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Miriam Lyons; his grandmother, Dorothy Williams; his grandfather, James Bacon; his brother, Jerald Coleman.; along with several beloved aunts, uncles, and other cherished family members who welcomed him into eternal rest.
A Native of New Orleans, LA and Resident of Harvey, LA
Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, officers and members of Fischer Community Church and all neighboring Churches are invited to his Celebration of Life Services at 10:00am on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Fischer Community Church, 1737 L.B.Landry Ave Algiers, LA. Bishop J. N. Brown-Host Pastor and Pastor Sherman Hughes, Sr., officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:00am until the time of service at the aboved-named Church. Interment in Restlawn Park Cemetery, 3540 US-90, Avondale, LA 70094. Final Arrangements entrusted to Patrick H.
